Jarvis Paul Hodges, age 65, of Lumberton, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. Jarvis was born on Christmas Eve and, to everyone who knew him, we've realized that he was a Christmas gift to us all. With a biting wit, an unusual array of vocabulary words, and the love for his friends and family that surpassed all understanding, Jarvis truly made his mark on this world. If he was your friend, he was your friend forever; there was never any doubt! He knew the names of all his friends' family members and had a storehouse of knowledge on each one.
He was the family member of many families. He was a lifetime friend for so many and there was practically nothing he wouldn't do for any of them. His humor, his opinions (on most any subject), and his big heart will be missed so much by so many. God Bless you Jarvis for helping make the journey of so many of us brighter and warmer. It is now time to return our Christmas gift back to his maker.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church in Lumberton. Following the service, a time of visitation will take place in the church's fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, please make any donation to Southeastern Hospice House, 1100 Pine Run Drive, Lumberton, NC 28358.
A special thanks to all the friends who kept a steady watch over my brother as he passed from this world to the next. Your presence kept a steady stream of love and dignity in his room. Words can't express my gratitude to each every one of you. God Bless you all and God bless my brother Jarvis.
