Janie (Jan) Rowell Edwards, age 84, of Lumberton, NC died on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC.  She was born in Horry County, SC on November 4, 1931 to the late Charlie and Bessie Hammonds Rowell.  She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Wayne Owens; a daughter, Diane Owens; brothers, Wade Rowell, C.W. Rowell, Jimmy Rowell; sisters, Mildred Rowell and Cora Bell Ellis; and a grandchild, Lawson Bethea.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband, Henry E. Edwards of the home; a daughter, Jackie Britt (Leonard) of Lumberton; brothers, Leroy "Dick" Rowell (Shelby) and Guy Rowell all of Nichols, SC; sisters, Dollie King of Lakeview, SC and Ann Dilhoff (Jim) of Oxford, OH; grandchildren, Billy Cook, Janice Denise James, Mark Floyd, Kevin Rexrode, Amy Bethea, and Sara Norton (Becky); eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 12:00 PM at First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Norman Smith and Rev. Russell Kinlaw, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery.   A time for visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00-12:00 PM at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 812 East 5th Street in Lumberton.
