Janie Chavis, age 86, of Fairmont, NC died at home on Saturday, September 5, 2009.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Northside Independent Church at 3:30 PM with Rev. Timmy Hunt, Rev. Tracy Locklear and Rev. Eugene Chavis officiating. Burial will follow in New Bethel Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 8, 2009 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services, 1549 Marion Stage Road in Fairmont.

She is survived by one son, Clinton Chavis of Charlotte, NC; three daughters, Doris Faircloth of Lumberton, NC, Vera Chavis and Betty Jo Hunt both of Fairmont, NC; one sister, Alean Hunt of Rowland, NC; twenty one grandchildren, thirty one great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren.
