Mrs. Janet Pittman Hammonds, age 65, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021. She was born in Robeson County on May 17, 1956 to Eula Pittman. Her favorite thing to do was to cook and share meals with all her friends and family.

Along with her mother, she is survived by her husband, Lee Hammonds of the home; a son, Lee Hammonds, Jr. and fiancée Patricia Ventura of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Lekisha Hammonds of Lumberton, NC and Lenita Hammonds-Murphy and husband Ricardo Fitzgerald Murphy of Fayetteville, NC; a grandson, Ricardo Fitzgerald Murphy II ("Lovebug"); a brother, Thelbert Adams of Red Springs, NC; and sister, Janice McNeill of Red Springs, NC.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. in Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021, at 12:00 PM at St. James AME Zion Church, 116 Brown Avenue in Red Springs, NC, with Rev. Sharon Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.
