On Thursday, October 1, 2015 Janet Callahan, 59, of Lumberton, went home to be with her Lord and Savior after an extended illness. She was surrounded by her devoted family and friends, many of which knew her from special moments she shared with them at Alamac Grocery. Janet was a precious gift to all with her wonderful smile and genuine kindness. She was preceded in death by her father, Asbury Hayes, and her brother, Tommy Priest. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 40 years, Sammy Callahan; her mother Elizabeth (Ralph) Baddorf; two daughters: Samantha Callahan and Crystal Callahan; a grandson, Dakoda Dickson; and a granddaughter, Erin Baranowski. She is also survived by her sisters: Rosie (Robert) Strickland, Jenny (Tim "Ziggy") Carroll, Melissa Lewis and Marco Brooks; and two special nieces: Bridget Strickland and Alicia Britt. In addition, fond memories were left with Jerry (Glenda) Callahan, Ronald "Curly" (Geneva) Callahan, Richard Callahan, Joey (JoAnn) Hucks, and Daril Britt. There was also a host of other close family and friends, too numerous to list, but loved as much. A time of visitation will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2015, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. and other times at the home. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2015, at 3:00 PM at East Lumberton Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please make donations to Community Home Care & Hospice, 2402 N. Roberts Ave., Lumberton, NC 28358, or American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park, Suite 10, Raleigh, NC 27615.
