Jan Ammons Sessoms, 71, of Pinehurst NC, formerly of Lumberton, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Moore Regional Hospital. She was born May 19, 1939 to Hubert and Vashti Ammons.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles Sessoms; one daughter, Kim Sessoms Kimrey and husband Jeff of Southern Pines; two granddaughters, Sophie and Miranda Kimrey; two sisters, Beth Brisson and Peggy Grant and one brother, Hal Ammons, all of Lumberton.

She was preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Vashti Ammons.

She was an educator for the Robeson County School System for 28 years and three generations of lives have been impacted by her love for teaching. She has been an active member of Long Branch Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Lumberton before moving to Pinehurst in 1997. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Pinehurst. She was a past president and member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Receiving will be at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. in Lumberton on Monday, September 27, 2010 from 11:00AM-12:30PM followed by a Graveside service at Meadowbrook Cemetery at 2:00PM. A celebration of her life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Pinehurst on October 2, 2010 at 3:00PM.
