Mr. James David Smith, age 89, of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice House in Whiteville.

He was born in Robeson County, NC on April 2, 1936 to the late Claude Smith and the late Mary Inman Smith.  He was a US Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Martin Smith, of the home; two sons, David Smith, Jr. (LeAnne) and Robbie Smith (Cheryl), all of Fairmont; one daughter, Janna Smith Osman (special friend, Joey) of Lumberton; five grandchildren, Emily Smith Jackson (Jamie), Adam Smith (Elizabeth), Kaitlyn Smith Kriner (Adam), Will Osman (Cam) and Drew Osman; four great-grandchildren, Carson and Presley Jackson and Owen and Adalynn Smith and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2025 from 10:00-11:30AM at Floyd Funeral Services, Inc., 1549 Marion Stage Road, Fairmont.

A memorial service will follow the visitation on Saturday, January 3, 2025 at 11:30AM at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Donnie Rabon officiating.
