James Preston Russell, age 81, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. He was born in Scotland County on January 22, 1935.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David Alexander & Bessie Bertha Russell; his wife, Rachel Ann Roberts Russell; and 3 brothers: Lester, Joe, and Jerry Ray.

James is survived by 2 sons: Kenneth Baker Russell and James Ray Russell and fiancé Anne Adcox, all of Lumberton; 3 sisters: Vera Grooms, Chrub Scott, and Lily Windom, all of Lumberton; 5 grandchildren: Drake, Jimmie, Sarah, R.J., & Zachary; and 1 great-granddaughter.

A time of visitation will take place prior to the service on Sunday, February 21, 2016, from 1:00-3:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM at Roberts Family Cemetery in Lumberton with Rev. Bob Jordan officiating.
