James Jacobs, age 88, of Fairmont, NC, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. He was born in Robeson County, NC on July 22, 1935, to the late Woodrow Lowery and the late Ossie Ree Lowery.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Clara Owens Jacobs; his three brothers: Robert Lowery, Herman Lowery, and Charles Lowery; and one sister, Joyce Locklear.

He is survived by his wife Florence Jacobs; daughters: Lori Locklear (Perry), Teresa Locklear, Alicia Dial, Twilla Revels (Charles), Sheila Oxendine, Marbeth Pevia (Ralph), and Felicia Ransom; and sons, Donald R. Ransom (Lakeisha), Thaddis Oxendine, Jr. (Angela), and Steven B. Ransom (Talina); his sisters: Lois Oxendine, Betty Oxendine, Helen Oxendine, Deloris Demery, Doris Hunt, and Linda Clark; his grandchildren: Robert Strickland, Bobby Strickland, Amy Thomas, and Sierra Murray; 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 special friends: Rev. Marvin Hunt and Tracy Hunt.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 1:00-3:00 PM at McDonald Pentecostal Holiness Church, 4291 McDonald Road in Fairmont, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev. Marvin Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Owens-Jacobs Family Cemetery, 189 Pinetree Road in Lumberton, NC.
