Mr. James Eugene Gray, age 84, of Lumber Bridge, NC, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at his home. He was born in Bladen County, NC on November 25, 1935 to the late Howard Gray and the late Ilar Hayes Gray. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and later became a minister.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, F.D. Gray and Charlie Gray, and one sister, Cora Mack Midway.

He is survived by his son, James Anthony Gray and wife Nora Jean of the home; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; four brothers: Johnnie Gray of Lumber Bridge, NC, Jack Gray and J.W. Gray, both of St. Pauls, NC, and J.D. Gray of Walkertown, NC; and two sisters, Pauline Davis of Parkton, NC and Marie Caulder of St. Pauls, NC.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, February 8, 2020, from 10:00-11:00 AM, at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5 ^th Street in Lumberton. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM in the chapel with Rev. David Hodge and Chaplain Robert Nolley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in James' honor be made to the charity or organization of your choice toward the advancement of cancer research or to Amedisys Hospice, 53 Three Hunts Drive, Pembroke, NC  28372.
