Rev. James Earl Jones age 74, of Fairmont, NC was born February 12, 1942 to the late Rufus and Johnnie Bell Jones and departed for his heavenly home on Friday, December 16, 2016 at his earthly home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 2:00PM at Reedy Branch Baptist Church with Revs. Hilton Woodell, Harold Hunt and Rev. Dr. Michael Cummings officiating.

Burial will follow in Reedy Branch Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 7-9pm at Reedy Branch Baptist Church.

James leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 52 years, Treva Hunt Jones. To this union they had one son, Retired Senior Master Sgt. James Earl Jones, Jr "Punpkin" and wife, JoJo Jones. Kenneth Hunt was also raised as a son. He has two grandsons that brought much joy and pride to his heart Anthony Rufus Jones and Bradyn Trevor Jones. Mr. James also had adopted grandchildren and great grandchildren; Tyra Hunt, Margo Hunt Locklear, Edwin Sampson, Sonny Locklear, Hudson Locklear, and Langston Locklear.

He is also survived by his siblings, Loretta Wynn, Dessie Mae Jacobs, Bennie Mae Edwards, Williamtine Tyler, Clennie Jones, Felton Jones, Perry Jones, Terry Jones and Anthony Jones; and many favorite nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

James not only served as a soldier for the US Army during the Vietnam War, 1966-1968, he also was a soldier for the Lord. He served as Pastor at South Laurinburg Baptist Church and Cedar Grove Baptist Church of Fairmont. He retired in 2011 due to declining health. Cedar Grove Baptist Church honored James with the title as Interim Pastor.
