James Walter Cox, Jr., age 73, of Lumberton, NC passed away on Thursday, February 06, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Robeson County, NC on February 12, 1940 to the late James Walter Cox, Sr. and the late Celia Britt Cox. He previously was Vice President of Connor Mobile Homes and later worked in real estate development. His Christian walk began when he and his brother Tim celebrated their baptism together. He was a faithful servant unto God throughout his days. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Tim. Mr. Cox is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Brenda Bullock Cox of the home; a son, James W. "Jimmy" Cox III and wife, Pollyanna of Pine Knoll Shores; a daughter, Samantha Cox Oppenheimer and husband, Lee of Hilton Head Island, SC; four grandchildren, James Dylan Cox, Jared Thomas Cox, Adam Brandon Oppenheimer, and Mark Ryan Oppenheimer; special aunt, Elizabeth Cox; and cousin, Nelda Freeman. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Lumberton First Baptist Church with Dr. David Elks officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th in Lumberton.
