James Wilton "Buddy" Hunt, age 80, of Fairmont.

Buddy gained his heavenly wings on Friday, March 24, 2017 at his home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was a devoted member of Northside Independent Church. He enjoyed farming, working on vehicles and doing what he could to help others. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and brother.

Mr. Hunt was born August 30, 1936 in Robeson County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Earl and Dora Hunt; his loving wife, Flossie Hunt; two grandsons, Jimmy Lee Hunt, Antonio Devon Hunt; a granddaughter, Dorothy Lynn Hunt; three brothers, L.J. Hunt, Bobby Hunt and Laycell Hunt; two stepsons, Douglas Hunt, Jimmy Hunt; two sisters, Francis Dale Hunt and Dorraine Jacobs; one daughter, Peggy Hunt.

Buddy is survived by four daughters, Brenda Hunt of the home, Helen Hunt (Roy of Laurinburg, Darlene Strickland (Jackie) of Fairmont and Linda Hunt of Fairmont; three sons, Ricky Hunt, Anthony Hunt and Roger Dale Hunt all of Fairmont; two granddaughters he raised, Tawanda Hunt and Tracie Hunt of Orrum; three brothers, Ardeen Hunt (Kathy) of Lumberton, Larece Hunt (Audrey) of Fairmont and Gerald Hunt of Lumberton; three sisters, Nezzie Hunt of Fairmont, Mable Revels of Maxton and Ruth Goins of Florida; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grands and four great-great grandchildren; a special friend Clois Hunt

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 3:00PM at Northside Independent Church in Lumberton.

Burial will follow in Fair Point Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 7-9 pm at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont.
