James "Buddy Boy" Ledwell, age 72, of Lumberton passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC. Buddy Boy was born in Robeson County on Sunday, December 2, 1951 Jacobs and Louvernia Chavis Ledwell. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Jeff Ledwell.

Buddy Boy was a jack-of-all-trades. Before his retirement he was in the construction and welding business.

Buddy Boy is survived by his daughters, Carol Locklear and Helen Locklear, both of Lumberton, NC; granddaughters: Shewanna Lewis, Delonna Lewis, and Brandy Lewis, all of Lumberton, NC, and Chasity Lewis of Pembroke, NC; 9 great-grandsons, 11 great-granddaughters, and 1 great-great-grandson; and his brother, Lemar Ledwell of Lumberton, NC. In addition to his family, he is survived by special friends: Morris Love, Bo Faircloth, Leroy Freeman, and Shannon Bisbee; and his special chihuahua, Rocky.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory, 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street, Lumberton, NC. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC.
