James Edward Bass, 69, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017. He was born in Robeson County on February 8, 1948 to the late Rexford Livingston Bass and the late Bonnie Edwards Bass. A former captain of Lumberton Fire Department, he retired after 18 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Declan Bass.

He is survived by his wife Florene Bass of the home; one son, James Michael Bass and wife Paula of Lumberton; three grandchildren: Annika Bass, Layna Bass, and Quinlyn Bass; a sister, Linda Davis of Raleigh; and a very special friend, Garvin Oliver.

A time of visitation will take place on Thursday, July 6, 2017, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
