James B. ??Red? Ashley, Jr., 86 formerly of Fairmont died at his home in Waxhaw, NC at sunrise on Sunday January 30, 2011 with his family by his side.

Red is survived by his wife, Ann Stuart Ashley of Charlotte, NC; two daughters and son-in-laws Marilyn Ashley and John Nelson, Jamie Ashley Leggett and Richard Gabriel and grandson, Russell Leggett; two sisters, Jeanette Webster of Fairmont, Margaret Oliver of Marietta, NC; sister-in-law Earline Ashley of Fairmont and a brother-in-law Chuck Wimbrow of Charlotte, NC, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear cousin and friend C. W. Hughes, Jr. of Shallotte, NC.

Red owned Ashley Pontiac and Buick, Inc. in Fairmont for 35 years then retired to the coast at Ocean Isle, NC and later to Charlotte spending time making new friends, gardening, wood-working and playing with his grandson.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 1:00PM at Floyd Memorial Cemetery in Fairmont, NC. A Visitation for family and friends will be immediately after the service at graveside, weather permitting or at Floyd Funeral Home adjacent to the cemetery.
