On Monday, June 26, 2023, the death angel visited the home of Mr. James Alvin Hunt, age 70, and took him along. He was born in Dillon County, SC on November 1, 1952, to Al & Margaret L. Norton. James enjoyed golfing, cooking, and his family. He was a "daddy" to many and had a heart of giving. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Al Norton; his great-grandchild, Kinsley Oxendine; his sisters, Ernie Neil Norton and Jean Norton; and his brothers, Micheal Norton and Ronald Norton.

James is survived by his mother, Margaret Norton; his wife, Joanne R. Hunt; his children: Lashawn Willoughby (Darrell), James Alvin Hunt, Jr. (Chandra), Chris Hammonds (Melody), Al Ross Hunt (partner Carlie), Shawntana Hunt (partner Terry), Dorann Hunt (partner Dee), and Luther Hunt; 4 grandchildren, including his special granddaughters, Makayla Hunt, Jarrah Nore Hunt, and Jayda Nikkie Hunt; and 9 great-grandchildren; his stepdaughter, Monica Breazeale; 6 sisters and 4 brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, June 30, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel, 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC, with Rev. Shelly Dial and Rev. Mitch Cummings officiating. Burial will follow at Robeson Memorial Park in Lumberton, NC.
