Ilene Martin Aranove, 91, of Lumberton, died on Saturday, January 18, 2025 in her home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Hazel Martin; her husband Marvin Aranove; her two brothers, Charlie Martin and Leland Martin and her two sisters, Betty Steelwagon and Donna Phillips.

She is survived by one son, Mitchell Aranove, Sr. of Toccoa, GA; one daughter, Michelle Frady and her boyfriend Jessie of Lumberton; grandchildren Joshua Frady and his wife Crystal, Thomas "TJ" Frady and his wife Amanda, Haylee Frady and Mitchell Aranove, Jr.; great grandchildren Austin and Ashlyn Frady and Emily Elmore, as well as a whole host of nieces, nephews and cousins and extended family and friends, including a very special friend, Karine Harris. The family would also like to send special acknowledgment and thanks to the caregivers of Amedisys Hospice, as well as the caregivers of the Personal Assistance Home Care organization.

In her spare time, Ilene loved to do arts and crafts, especially jigsaw puzzles. But her greatest love of all was for her church. She was never without her bible, also serving as an ordained missionary. She taught the bible to children, much as her husband taught the bible to adults. Whether you knew her as Ma or Grandma, Ilene will always be loved and remembered by all that knew her. She was truly a unique spirit.

There will be a visitation held on Sunday, January 19th in Floyd Mortuary from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be a funeral service held on Monday, January 20th at 2:00 pm, in the chapel of Floyd Mortuary. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service in Floyd Memory Gardens on Old Whiteville Rd.
