Hubert Rae Jolly, 95, of Lumberton, NC, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Born on June 12, 1929, to Ida Marie Edge Jolly and Alfred Franklin Jolly, Hubert overcame a challenging childhood to become a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

At 15, Hubert found his calling in the U.S. Marine Corps. His Marine spirit remained a defining aspect of his character throughout his life, and he often quipped, "Not so lean, not so mean, but still a Marine."

On October 23, 1955, Hubert married the love of his life, Myrtle Faye Hester Jolly. Their union, a blend of opposites, proved transformative for Hubert, softening his rough edges and providing the love and respect he deeply needed.

Hubert built a successful career at K.M. Biggs Tractor Sales in Lumberton, rising from hired hand to manager. His honesty and reliability earned him the trust of farmers throughout Robeson County and beyond, relationships that endured long after his retirement.

Known for his infectious humor, Hubert had a gift for brightening any room he entered. Whether at Hardee's with his coffee group or at a somber gathering, his presence invariably brought smiles and laughter, lifting the spirits of all around him.

Hubert is survived by his daughters, Elaine Jolly Davis (Gary) and Joy Evensen Bisesi; grandchildren Callie Elaine Davis (Carson McGuffin), Rachel Catherine Evensen, Cailin Elaine Evensen, and Elijah Christian Evensen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; his sisters, Haven Jolly Parker Shaver and Helen Jolly Little; and his parents. Hubert's life exemplified resilience, kindness, and the power of laughter. His memory will continue to bring smiles to all who knew him.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 1:00-2:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton.

A funeral service will follow the visitation on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 2:00PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joe Bounds officiating.  Entombment will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
