Howard Ray Brunck

July 21, 1938 – September 29, 2023

Howard Ray Brunck, 85, passed away on September 29th, 2023, in his home with family by his side.  He was born in Robeson County on July 21st, 1938 to the late Annie Rhodes and Urban Calvin Brunck.

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his wife Eloise Britt Brunck; his brothers, John Brunck and Harley Thomas Brunck; his sister, Doris Freeman; and his granddaughter, Ashley Marie Brunck.

He is survived by his sons, Thomas Ray Brunck of Shallotte, NC.  Urban Calvin Brunck (Jessica) of Lumberton, NC and Terrence Edward Brunck (Brenda) of Lumberton, NC; his daughters, Wanda Brunck Watts (Ernest) of Rockingham, NC and Audrey Brunck Blum (Douglas) of Beloit, WI; seven grandchildren:  Jordan, Justin, Kristian, Aaron, Calvin James, Mason, and Mary; nine greatgrandchildren: Hailey, Lisa, Elaina, Logan, Mason, Aria, Landon, Rhett and Sterling.

Howard had a rich and long work career.  He retired from Alamac Knitting textile plant, where he worked for over 30 years.  After retiring from Alamac, Howard went to work for Quickie Manufacturing as a bailer.  Throughout his life he also provided for his family by taking on odd jobs painting, cutting trees, and worked alongside his father-in-law on the family farm.  He was always busy.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing whether at the beach or one of the many ponds and creeks throughout Robeson County.  He was also a member of the Burnt Island Hunt Club for many years and was known for breaking down and skinning deer in his back yard.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 2, 2023 at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton.  The family will receive friends for visitation the hour prior.
