Mr. Homer Elery Hooks, age 79, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at his home. He was born in Loris, SC on November 20, 1941 to the late Son Hooks and the late Zilphia Crawford Hooks. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve and he had a long career with Winn-Dixie, where he worked for over 40 years.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Hooks.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Hooks of the home; two sons, Derrick Hooks and wife Debra of Willow Springs, NC and Rodney Hooks and wife Michelle of Raleigh, NC; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Clarence Hooks of Aynor, SC, Larry Hooks of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Jim Hooks and wife Lois of Loris, SC; and two sisters, Maxine Martin of Goldsboro, NC and Polly Hooks of Loris, SC.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday, June 13, 2021, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5 ^th Street in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM in the chapel with Rev. William Gentry and Kenneth Spencer officiating.

Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC.
