Mr. Homer Pendleton Carpenter Jr., age 86, of Lumberton, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton.  Mr. Carpenter was a retired United States Air Force Military Police Officer.

Mr. Carpenter is preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Violet Carpenter; his parents: Homer P. Carpenter and Opal Kirk Carpenter; one sister, Emma Damron; one brother, Larry Carpenter; and one granddaughter, Jennifer C. Bishop.

Mr. Homer leaves to cherish his memories, his children: Carl Carpenter and wife Ann of Wallace, Cindy Horne and husband Bobby of Lumberton, and Scott Carpenter and wife  Runell of Lumberton; three brothers: Jack Carpenter of Springfield, MO, Bill Carpenter of Bloomington, IL, and George Carpenter of Charleston, WV; nine grandchildren: Rev. Mike Bishop, Michele Falcon, Damien Spivey, Ashley Horne, Brook Grainger, Liz Pekarek, Matthew Horne, Blake Parker, and Angel Parker; ten great-grandchildren; and two grand-dogs, Buster and Max.

A time of visitation will be held prior to the funeral on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Chapel with Rev. Michael Bowen and Rev. Mike Bishop officiating. Burial will be at Floyd Memory Gardens.
