Hilda Gray Boyd Simmons, age 82, of Lumberton, NC died on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.  She was born in Columbus County, NC on November 5, 1935 to the late Willie Boyd and Eva Norris Boyd.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her late husband, James Simmons; and her late daughter, Shelby Jean Kinlaw.

Ms. Simmons is survived by her sons, James Raeford Cook of Lumberton and Dennis Berry Cook of Supply; a daughter, Hilda Janice Mayes of Lumberton; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 1:30 PM at Floyd Memorial Gardens in Lumberton with Rev. Tim Holden and Rev. Ellis Autry officiating .
