Hilbert Bass, age 73, of Fairmont, NC, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was born on October 15, 1937 to Hilton Bass and Mary Ann Ivey Bass.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Bass; a son, Dickie Lynn Bass; two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his son, ??Gene? Ashley, Jr. and wife, Linda of Knightdale, NC; four other sons and two daughters; a brother, Linwood Bass and wife, Brigitte of Lumberton; two sisters, Mollie Faye Foster and husband, Marvin of Fairmont, NC and Carolyn Rogers and husband, Leo of Wilmington, NC; eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011at 2:00PM at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel in Fairmont with Rev. Ed Wilcox officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Memorial Cemetery in Fairmont.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011 from 7:00-9:00PM at Floyd Funeral Services, Inc., 1549 Marion Stage Road, Fairmont, NC.
