Mr. Hervie Stenson Locklear, age 84, of Fairmont, NC, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 7, 2022. He was born September 5, 1938 in Robeson County to the late Jessie Locklear and Mary Lee Lowery.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Josephine Locklear; three sisters: Zadie Ray Locklear, Lydia Doris Locklear, and Vida Locklear; two brothers, Joseph Ira Locklear and infant Jesse Locklear, Jr.; and one son.

Hervie was a lifelong member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church where he served as Chairman Deacon. He was also owner-operator of Hervie's Amoco Station of Fairmont and served on the Board of Trustees at Robeson Community College. In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman and hunter, but he enjoyed most of all being a father and grandfather to his family whom he adored. He was a US Navy Veteran and also a member of the Poor Boys Hunting Club.

He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Jason Patrick Locklear of the home; three daughters: Deena Locklear (Bradley), Melanie Hunt (Dwayne), and Millicent Strickland  (longtime companion, Rex Brewer); three sisters: Myrtle Rose Locklear (James), Bertis Lee Brown, and Madis Ray Maynor; six grandchildren: Cetera Hunt (Landon), Kayla Hunt, Soraya Locklear, Asa Locklear, Stinson Locklear, and Maya Collins; a great-grandchild, Buchanan Jacobs; special friends, Lynn Hunt, Edsel Lowery, Jimmy Lynn Hunt, Keith Rogers, Anthony Hunt, Master Samuel Mitchell, Lynn Locklear and Ethan Korosko; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022, from 6:00-8:00PM at Floyd Funeral Services, 1549 Marion Stage Road in Fairmont, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday November 12, 2022, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 410 South Morro Street in Fairmont, NC, at 1:00PM with Rev. Rodney Hunt and Rev. Chris Chavis officiating. Burial will follow in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
