Herbert "Pete" Colon Roberts III, age 81, of Lumberton, NC passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Colon "HC" Roberts, Jr. and Coleen Roberts; and wife, Barbara Roberts; two brothers, Michael Roberts and Carey Roberts; and a sister, Sandra Kay Roberts.

Pete dedicated more than 70 years to farming and agriculture, leaving a lasting impact on the land and the community he loved. A true pillar of the community, he was known for his hard work, kindness, and unwavering faith. He attended church faithfully, eager to worship and fellowship, for many years.

He is survived by his sons: Herbert Colon Roberts IV (Becky) of Tar Heel, James Kevin Roberts (Paula), and John Mark Roberts (Kristy), all of Lumberton, NC; grandchildren: Lucas McNeill (Jade), Erica Walters (Chris), Taylor Roberts, Kelli Roberts, Dalton Roberts (Zoe), and Kameron Roberts; great-grandchildren: Isla Moon McNeill and Jon Luke McNeill; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC, with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Adam Self officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC.
