Henry T. Floyd, 78, of 4207 Cricklewood Street, Lumberton died Wednesday morning, July 8, 2009 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton.

Henry Townsend Floyd was born January 29, 1931, Fairmont, NC and went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2009. Henry graduated from Fairmont High School and

attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL. He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict and after serving his country he attended Presbyterian Jr. College in Maxton, NC.

He began his career in the Farm Supply and Fertilizer business and later established the Floyd Insurance Agency in Fairmont and Lumberton, NC. Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. was established in 1973 by Henry and Flora Hill
Floyd. The mortuary began with a desire to provide a hometown funeral service that could meet the needs of others during their time of greatest bereavement. Henry was a member of Chestnut United Methodist and the Order of Fairmont Masonic Lodge, 528.

Henry was preceded in the death of his parents, Robert Oscar Floyd, Sr. and Sadie Lewis Floyd; his wife of 34 years, Flora Hill Floyd; Siblings, Thomas Floyd, Ellen Rose McGirt, Robert Oscar Floyd, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, June McNeill Floyd, of the home; his children, Joan Floyd, Janet Sylvester and husband, Terry, Gayle Long and special friend, Jimmy White all of Florence, SC, Terry Floyd and wife, Donna of Lumberton, NC; Patsy Bowen of Blanchard, OK, Andy Foley and wife, Chris of Fayetteville, NC, Myra Hamilton and husband, Phillip of Wilmington, NC, Rosemarie Wood and husband, Gary of New Port, NC, Leisa Jordan of Lumberton, NC, David McNeill and wife, Karen and Mark McNeill and wife, Paula all of High Point, NC, Kelly Johnson and husband, Bart of Fredericksburg, VA; Sisters, Shirley Jenkins of Fairmont, Willie Vaughan of Port Orange, FL; Brothers, Lowell Floyd and wife, Carol of Bluefield, West VA, Gerald Floyd and wife, Rev. Vann Floyd of Rockingham; 23 grandchildren, Kristin, Dale and Adam Sylvester, Loren and Amber-Nicole Long, Jamison and Kelly Floyd, Jay Bowen, Matt and Laura Foley, Rachel Peterson, Abby Hamilton, Justin and Michael Wood, Francesca Gonzalez, Dustin, Stephen, Mikayla, Andrea, Nicholas and Mary McNeill, and Zachary and Brittany Johnson; 4 great-grandchildren, Jake, Ashton and Brookelyn Bowen and Ren Long.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 10, 2009 from 2:00-4:00 PM and from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc, 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton, NC.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton with Dr. Ralph Richardson, Rev. Steve Little and Rev. Nash Odum officiating. Interment will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens.
