Helen Scott Hendren, age 79, of Lumberton, NC, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 15, 2023.  She was born in Robeson County, NC on September 5, 1944 to the late Knox & Zona Scott.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Philbert Hendren, Sr.; her sister, Judy Scott; and her brothers: Bob, Henry, and Harold.

She served many years at New Life Church, Lumberton, and also worked for many years in the cafeteria at Lumberton High School. After retirement, many people were blessed by her services as caregiver through many years. Helen knew no strangers. If you met her, you loved her and she loved you. She loved reading and sewing.  She sewed many, many "quilts" for her loved ones.

She is survived by her two sons, Phil (Adrienne) and Arthur (Stephanie) Hendren; six grandchildren: Brittany, Laykin, Taylor Brooke, Kristen, Jacob, and Corey; eight great-grandchildren: Mckinley, Emma Kate, Kennedy, Kassidy, Maelynn, Jaydon, Kisley and Karsyn; two sisters, Stella Coleman (Mac), and Peggy Fields; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm at New Life Church, 3990 Fayetteville Rd. in Lumberton, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 19, at 2:00 PM at New Life Church, 3990 Fayetteville Road in Lumberton, NC with the Pastor Tim Williford officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton, NC.
