Hazel Lee Wright, aged 87, of Lumberton, died on Thursday, June 20th, 2024, in the Angel House Hospice Care Center in Whiteville.

She is preceded in death by her parents Pete and Sydney West; her husband, William Manuel Wright; five brothers, Harry West, Peter James "PJ" West, Andrew West, Asbury West and Charles West; three half-brothers, Frank West, Bowman West and Wilbur West and a half-sister, Lina Meares.

She is survived by her son, Earl W. West of Lumberton, NC; her step-son, Michael Butler of Florence, SC; a step-daughter, Louanne Blackburn of St. Paul's, NC, and three sisters, Lula Meadows and her husband Toby of Bladenboro, NC, Vivian Oxendine of Lumberton, NC and Francina Owens of Maiden, NC

Hazel will always be remembered as someone who had a heart of pure gold. She never knew a stranger, and always had a hug for everyone she saw. In her spare time she loved to work crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She also loved to go fishing, cooking, and just visiting with her friends.

There will be a memorial service held on Wednesday, June 26th at 6:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church, located at 6573 Hwy 41 N. Lumberton, NC. After the memorial service, the family will continue to receive friends and have fellowship at the church.
