Mr. Haywood Lewis, of Rowland, NC, was born on May 20, 1940 to the late Jodie Lewis and the late Hattie Jane Huggins Lewis. He departed this life on September 2, 2022, making his journey of 82 years.

Mr. Haywood was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was loved by many and referred to as "Da" by most of his grandchildren. Mr. Haywood was well respected in the community. He was a hard-working man who provided for his family and gave to others in need. Mr. Haywood was a farmer for most of his life and also worked as a security guard with Alpha Cellulose and South of the Border. Mr. Haywood was a member of Fairpoint Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Adell Locklear Lewis; four grandchildren, Marina Chavis, Leona Lewis, Maelyia Lewis, and Hezachi Oxendine; four brothers, JB Lewis, Albert Leo (Jim) Lewis, Horace (Skin) Lewis, and Delmus Lewis; and three sisters, Hattie Mae Hunt, Stella Mae Lewis, and Clara (Pat) Hunt.

Mr. Haywood is survived by three daughters, Carmela Hunt (Gary), and Hattie Lewis (Robert), both of Lumberton, NC, and Denise Mercer of Maxton, NC; four sons, Jason Lewis of Winston Salem, NC, William G. Lewis (Natisha) of Pembroke, NC, Mickey Locklear of Rowland, NC, and Randy Lewis of the home. He is also survived by a sister, Catherine Levinson of Greensboro, NC; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A time of visitation will be held Monday, September 5, 2022, from 7:00-9:00PM at Floyd Funeral Services, 1549 Marion Stage Road in Fairmont, NC.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 3:00PM at Fairpoint Freewill Baptist Church, 1862 Marion Stage Road in Fairmont, NC. Burial will follow in the Benson Chapel Church Cemetery, 270 Benson Chapel Road in Rowland, NC.
