Harston
Ivey
Jun 15, 1941 — Sep 19, 2026
Fairmont
Mr. Harston Ivey, age 85, was born on June 15, 1941, in Robeson County, North Carolina. He departed this life on September 19, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of hard work, love, and devotion to his family.
Harston was preceded in death by his mother, Sabra Ann Ivey Sampson; his beloved wife of 55 years, Doris Hunt Ivey; and his son-in-law, Dwayne Hunt and a brother Carson Sampson.
He is survived by his two children, Gary Harston Ivey of the home and Kimberly Ivey Hunt of Fairmont, North Carolina. He also leaves to cherish his memory his two grandchildren, Morgan Cheyenne Hunt of Fairmont, North Carolina, and Braylon Moses Ivey of Lumberton, North Carolina; his brothers, Richard Ree Sampson, Bobby C. Sampson, and Jimmie D. Sampson; his foster son, Jimmy Hammonds; along with many other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
Harston was a hardworking man who took great pride in working with his hands. There was very little he could not fix, especially when it came to vehicles. Whether he was repairing something that was broken or towing a vehicle, he was happiest when he was working and helping others.
He dedicated much of his life to Barfield's Body Shop, where he worked for 24 years before taking over the business in 2001. He continued working until 2025, giving an incredible 60 years of his life to the work he loved. His dedication, determination, and strong work ethic were qualities that those around him knew well.
To his family, however, he was so much more than a hardworking man. He was Dad. He was Papa. He was someone they could depend on, learn from, laugh with, and love. The lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the memories made with him will remain in their hearts forever.
Although his family would have loved more time with him, they are grateful for the years, memories, and love they were blessed to share. His hardworking hands may now be at rest, but the mark he left on his family and the lives of those who knew him will remain.
