Harold Thomas Townsend's Obituary
Harold Thomas Townsend, age 85, of Lumberton, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was born July 13, 1932 in Robeson County to the late Joseph Steven Townsend and the late Lela Mae Covington Townsend.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, J.S. Townsend, Jr., and one sister, Grace Townsend Warwick.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peggy "JoAnn" O. Townsend of the home; his children: Sam Townsend (Linda) of Lumberton and Margaret T. Rising (Ricky) of Bladenboro; three grandchildren: Waylon Rising and Jason and Eric Townsend; two great-grandchildren: Brianna and Jaydon Townsend; and one sister, Judy T. Bass of Lumberton.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral on Friday, May 4, 2018, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. in Lumberton.
Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM in the Chapel with Rev. Mark Hall and Rev. Tom Willoughby officiating. Burial will follow at new Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Raft Swamp Baptist Church, 2766 NC Hwy 72 West, Lumberton, NC 28360.
