Hal Dixon Ivey, age 86, of Proctorville, NC, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021, at UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC. He was born on May 12, 1935 in Robeson County, NC to the late Elra Ivey and Essie Britt Ivey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lacey Ivey and Charles R. Ivey, and two sisters, Sarah Ivey Barfield and Genevieve Ivey Floyd.

He was the former Mayor of Proctorville and he retired from Robeson County Water Department. He was operator of his own lawn service since the 1980's. He was a founding member of Orrum Township Volunteer Fire Dept. and was currently serving on the Board of Directors.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia Nance Ivey of the home; three sons: Steven Ivey of Proctorville, NC, Hal Dixon Ivey, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, and Johnnie Daniels and wife Elaine of Corpus Christy, TX; two brothers, James Ivey of Orrum, NC and Eutice Ivey of Kernsville, NC; a sister, Rose Ivey Callahan of Orrum, NC; and five grandsons: Nicholas Christian-Hal Ivey, Derrick A. Bailey, Allen Piner, Christopher Piner, and Richard Piner.

A time of visitation will be held prior to the service from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, June 25, 2021, at Proctorville Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary.

Burial will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Ivey Family Cemetery.
