Guy Pitman McCormick, 75, of 802 Peach Street, died Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at his residence. He was born
to the late William Albert, Sr. and Maude Townsend McCormick on September 2, 1933 in Robeson County.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Crawford McCormick of the home; son, Michael Albert McCormick and wife,
Lois of Rowland; daughters, Catherine McCormick Jones of Rowland and Jean Marie McCormick of Lumberton;
brother, W. Albert McCormick, Jr. of Rowland; and grandchildren, Jennifer Jones Matthews of Jersey City, NJ, Guy
Lawrence Jones of Rowland, Megan McCormick Gaut of Winston Salem, NC and Meredith Michele McCormick of
Rowland.
Mr. McCormick graduated from UNC in 1955 and became a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. After completing his
service h returned to Rowland to his first love, farming, which he continued for the rest of his life. Guy was a faithful
member of Rowland Presbyterian Church where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher,
Deacon and Elder. He was a devout man who lived his faith. He served on the Robeson Community College Board of
Trustees for 20 years with President, Fred Williams and Board Chairman, A.D. Lewis, while great expansion took
place and the Technical School became an accredited College. For more than 45 years he was also a member of the
Rowland Lions Club.
The funeral service wll be Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Rowland Presbyterian Chruch with Pastor Jim
Smith and Rev. Roger Horne officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 10, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.
