Gracie Younce "Sherry" Fergerson, age 68, of Lumberton, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton.  She was born in Robeson County, NC on July 17, 1956 to the late David G. Younce, Jr. and the late Gracie Gore Younce.  "Ms. Fergerson" was a long-time teacher at Long Branch Elementary School and was loved by all her students, coworkers, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Eric Johnson.

She is survived by her two daughters, Amber Fergerson Davis of the home and Ashley Fergerson Haggerty (Brandon) of Longmont, CO; one brother, David G. Younce III (Sherry Lynn) of Lumberton; her seven grandchildren: Valerie, Layla, Lexy, Lily, Kendell, Leihana, and Chamber; and her two special friends, Bucky Miller of Lumberton and Amber Greene of Bladenboro.

A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 1:00-3:00PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street, Lumberton.

A private graveside burial will be held at Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery in Fayetteville.
