Mrs. Gloria Ann Lawson Huggins Mercer, age 83, of Lumberton, NC, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Lower Cape Fear Angel House in Whiteville, NC. She was born in Robeson County, NC on September 7, 1940 to the late Bracey Vernon Lawson and the late Mavis Walton Lawson.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Wood Huggins; her brothers: Jimmy Lawson, Bobby Lawson, and Tony Lawson; and her sisters: Glenda Hinson, Sherry Lawson, and Judy Ivey.

Gloria never met a stranger and will be remembered as always wearing a smile on her face.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Huggins Bruce and her husband Joseph of Lumberton, NC; her brothers, Jerry Lawson (Mary) and Lindsay Lawson, both of Lumberton, NC; her sisters, Sue Callahan of Lumberton, NC and Beth Brown of Germantown, NC; and a very special friend, Mrs. Carrie Jacobs.

A time of visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 12:00-1:00PM at East Lumberton Baptist Church, 201 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1:00PM at East Lumberton Baptist Church in Lumberton with Pastor Mike Bowen and Pastor Johnny Bruce officiating.  Burial will follow at New Hollywood Cemetery in Lumberton.
