Gertrude "Trudy" Grimsley Batton, 73, of Fairmont, NC, passed Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Red Springs Assisted Living in Red Springs.

Gertrude worked many manufactory jobs in her career before changing to home health upon retiring.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Janie Grimsley of Fairmont; a brother, Terry Grimsley of Fairmont; a granddaughter, Tara Marie Charles of Raeford; and a daughter-in-law, Ellen Batton of Chesnee, SC.

Gertrude is survived by her children, Melinda Ann Dick (David) of Red Springs, Johnny Batton of Chesnee, SC, and Neil Batton of Fairmont; a sister, Jean McRae (Danny) of Fairmont; two brothers, Earl Grimsley (Jean-Carol) of Fairmont and David Simmons of Fairmont; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2024, at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont, NC following a celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Floyd Memorial Cemetery in Fairmont.
