Mrs. Geraldine Spaulding Bell, age 82, of Lumberton, NC, departed her earthly home and was welcomed into her Savior's arms on Friday, February 11, 2022.  She was born in Robeson County, NC on August 15, 1939 to the late James Burder Spaulding and the late Bertha Lee Brewer Spaulding.

Geraldine was loved by all who knew her. She was very community-oriented and was a pillar of the Saddletree Community. She worked hard as a homemaker -- cooking, baking, farming, sewing, and providing for her family. Baking biscuits and cakes were her specialty and she won several cake baking competitions locally. Geraldine was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Mary Cathern Spaulding; her husband, Luther Bell; and a brother, Delmer Ray Spaulding.

Mrs. Bell is survived by her children: James Craig Bell, Sandra Bowen (Stephen), Bruce Bell, and Susan Thompson (Gene), all of Lumberton, NC; four brothers: James Elmer Spaulding (Dorothy), Willie Spaulding, Osteen Spaulding (Aggie), and Maryland Spaulding (Gaynell), all of Lumberton, NC; two sisters, Phonia Jacobs (Freddie) of Raeford, NC and Devon Hunt (Hal) of Lumberton, NC; a sister-in-law, Christine Spaulding of Lumberton, NC; five grandchildren: Adam Bowen (Amanda) of Maxton, NC, Daniel Bowen (Ashlyn) of Liberty, SC, Megan McNeill (Matt Bailey) of Fairmont, NC, and Garrison Thompson and Gabriel Thompson, both of Lumberton, NC; five great-grandchildren: Liberty Rose Bowen, Judah Ukiah Bowen, Titus Alexander Bowen, Zadie Jo Bowen, and Grayson Blain Thompson; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends and loved ones prior to the service on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 2:00-3:00 PM at Freedom Baptist Church, 4020 W. McDuffie Crossing Road in Lumberton, NC. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00PM with Pastor Davey Locklear, Pastor Gary Strickland, Pastor Bailey Weeks, and Pastor Jimmy Hammonds officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Lumberton.
