Gearld Dean Hunt of Fairmont, NC entered eternal rest on July 17, 2024, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton completing his life's journey of 74 years.

Preceding him in death was a son, Terry Hunt, his parents, Earl and Dora Hunt, five brothers, Lazell Hunt, LJ Hunt, Barver (Bobby) Hunt and Ardeen Hunt, Sr., James Wilton (Buddy) Hunt, four sisters, Doreen (Sissy) Hunt Jacobs, Ruthsell Hunt Goins, Nezzie Hunt and Frances Dale Hunt.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Hunt of Lumberton, a sister, Mabel Hunt Revels of Maxton, a brother, Larece Hunt (Audrey) of Fairmont and a very special niece, Darleen Hunt Strickland of Fairmont along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Life's teachable moments and firsthand experiences were Gearld's favorite form of education.  He loved the outdoors and working with his hands.  His work experience after leaving the farm included auto body repair, construction, furniture industry and hosiery manufacturing.  He lived his life dedicated to his family, friends and his faith.  Gearld was the youngest of seven boys and second youngest of twelve children born to his parents, Earl and Dora.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Northside Independent Church Cemetery, 378 Circle Drive, Lumberton, NC.
