Mr. George Washington Lewis, age 88, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023. He was born in Robeson County, NC on February 22, 1935 to the late Junie & Sallie Prevatte Lewis.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tony George Lewis (age 4); his wife, Janice Pittman Lewis (age 76); and 8 sisters and 3 brothers.

George would want us to remember him by the love he had for Jesus and his wife of 60 years, who he missed greatly and talked about daily. He just loved living life, singing no matter where he was, and he always had such fond memories of breakfast with friends. One of his favorite things was taking afternoon rides in his convertible while wearing his cowboy hat.

He was so special and shown love by many. He will be missed dearly, so let's remember back on the special moments he made us smile.

George is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Lewis of the home; his son, Cary Lewis and wife Lisa of Lumberton, NC; his grandchildren: Carley of the home and Sara and Whitney L. Willoughby, both of Lumberton, NC; his great-grandchildren, Ryder and Madison, both of Lumberton, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Floyd Memory Gardens, 3720 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, NC, with Rev. Mark Meadows officiating.
