Rev. George John Elliott, age 91, of Fairmont, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on July 9, 1922 to the late Harry Elliott and the late Philena Provost Elliott. He was a World War II Veteran who served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater. Mr. George is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Emily Smith Elliott, of the home; two sons, Stephen John Elliott (Barbara) of League City, TX and Bruce David Elliott (Brenda) of Colorado Springs, CO; one daughter, Susan Jean Belles (Barry) of Fairmont, NC; six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 5:00-7:00PM at the home of Barry and Susan Belles. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 2:00PM at West Lumberton Baptist Church in Lumberton.
