Mr. George "Bruce" Chavis, age 83, of Rowland, NC passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at McLeod Hospice of Florence, SC.

Mr. Chavis was born November 16, 1939 in Robeson County to the late Ned Chavis and the late Kathleen Hunt Chavis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a brother, Billy Dean Chavis; a granddaughter, Casey Reid Jacobs and a grandson, Logan Christopher Chavis.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Chavis of the home; one son, Christopher Chavis (Vanessa) of Maxton, NC; two daughters, Pamela Maynor (Dino) of Lumberton, NC and Gloria Ann Jacobs of Laurinburg, NC; one brother, Samuel Chavis (Margaret) of Rowland, NC; five sisters, Shelby Seals of Conway, SC, Patricia Hines (Jim) of Indiana, Lucille Jacobs (Gentry) of Red Springs, NC, Willa Chavis of Maxton, NC, and Olinda Bullard of Maxton, NC; three grandchildren, Deanna Maynor, Josh Anthony Jacobs and Conner Chavis; one great-grandchild, Bella Cummings and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Funeral Services 1549 Marion Stage Rd. Fairmont, NC. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Reedy Branch Baptist Church 3047 McDonald Rd. Fairmont, NC. with Rev. Hilton Woodell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
