Mrs. Genevive Thomas Edens, 87, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Southeastern Hospice House after a short stay there. She was a resident of Lumberton, originally from Red Springs, where she lived most of her life. Mrs. Edens was born in Rockingham, NC on December 7, 1925 to Madeline Mansour Thomas and Samuel Thomas. She was predeceased by her husband, Leighton Augustus Edens, her parents, and two sisters, Juliet May Thomas and Madeline Thomas Young. Genevive is survived by her daughter, Wandre Edens Elkins, and husband, Jerry Elkins, of Lumberton; a grandson, Ryan Peyton Boone, of Raleigh; a sister, Lorraine Elizabeth Thomas, of Raleigh; a brother, Dr. Samuel Francis Thomas, and wife, Barbara Dudley Thomas, of Greensboro; and her nieces and nephews.
