Mr. Gene Hunt, age 69, of Lumberton, NC, passed away Friday, July 3, 2020. He was born in Robeson County, NC on December 12, 1950 to the late Stoney Hunt and the late Alberta Hunt. He was employed in the construction industry, specializing in hanging sheetrock.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Wesley Hunt, and two sisters, Ellen Dale Hunt and Mary Ruth Hunt.

He leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Sharon Hunt of the home; his children: Winston Locklear of High Point, NC and Wayne Hunt, Kay McDonald (Jason), and Rena Hunt, all of Lumberton, NC; six grandchildren: Laila, Halona, Kaylee, Tristen, Navayia, and Jacob; three brothers: Neil John Hunt (Glenda Clark), Larry Hunt, and Terry Hunt (Laura Ann), all of Lumberton, NC; four sisters: Carolyn Brewington (Richard) of Lumberton, NC, Janice Sanderson (Bobby) of Pembroke, NC, and Wanda Gail Chavis (Roger) and Gwanda Hunt, all of Lumberton, NC; an aunt, Barbara Ann Hunt of Fairmont, NC; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairmont, NC with Pastor Ray Oxendine officiating.
