Mrs. Gayle Lawson Wilkes, age 77, of Orrum, NC, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026, at her daughter's home. She was born on June 2, 1948, in Robeson County, NC, to the late Roscoe & Elizabeth M. Lawson.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Wilkes; her son-in-law, Darrell Wilkerson; her brothers, Gerald Lawson and Dale Nay; and her sisters: Emily Edwards, Faye Foley, Lynda Prevatte, and Debra O'Tuel.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Wilkerson of Lumberton, NC; her son, Anthony Radway Wilkes of Orrum, NC; her grandson, Joshua R. Wilkes; a great-grandson, Jason Radway; a brother, Dennis Edwards (Joan) of Hillsville, VA; her sisters-in-law, Mary Wilkes Lawson (Jerry) and Edna Wilkes Smith (Tom); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Ten Mile Baptist Church Cemetery, 5176 Barker Ten Mile Road in Lumberton, NC, with Pastor David McClellan officiating.
