Gary Talmadge Horne, 71, of Lumberton, NC, died on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at UNC Health Southeastern in Lumberton, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lee & Mary Sue Horne.

He is survived by two brothers, Wayne Horne and wife Judy of Lumberton, NC and David Horne and wife June of Fairmont, NC; three nieces: Jill West and husband Robbie of Bladenboro, NC, Jamie Horne Schuler and husband Nate of Hope Mills, NC, and Jamee Harris and husband Brad of Bladenboro, NC; several cousins and extended family; and a special friend, Michelle Pate of Lumberton, NC.

Gary was a lifelong member of Asbury United Methodist Church. As a young man, he was an Eagle Scout and the recipient of the God and Country Award. In his professional career, Gary worked as a Civil Engineering Technician for Koonce, Noble, and Associates for 40 years. During his time there, he was a part of a number of major projects, which included a county-wide water system project for Robeson County, as well as street improvement, storm drain improvement, and sidewalk improvement projects for the towns of Lumberton, Red Springs, and Maxton. In his spare time, Gary loved watching Carolina football and basketball. He also enjoyed playing Santa Claus to young people at the holidays.

There will be a graveside service held on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery, 5190 N. Fayetteville Road in Lumberton, NC. The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
