Obituary

Gale Wilcox, an adored mother and friend, entered into eternal life on October 29, 2025.

Born in Fairmont, North Carolina to the late Alice Nye Leggett and Muriel Elbert Leggett, she was cherished in her community. A beloved member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Gale devoted her time to faith, service, and community. As a youth leader, she guided young hearts with wisdom and care. Through her active participation in various ministries, Gale lived her faith daily - sharing warmth, comfort, and nourishment with all who crossed her path. Her lively spirit and steadfast compassion touched countless lives through her service in the church and through her work with the Department of Corrections.

Gale cherished the simple joys of life- morning walks with friends, quality time spent with those she loved, and caring for the children of her dear friends as a trusted babysitter. Her humor and generous heart left a lasting mark on everyone she met.

Gale was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Billy Wilcox, and her brothers, Elwood Leggett and Paul Leggett.

She is survived by the light of her life, her daughter Madison Wilcox, along with a loving extended family, and countless friends who will miss her presence in every moment.

Gale's life was one of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and boundless love. Her memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Well done, good and faithful servant- enter into the joy of our Lord. Matthew 25:21
