Frankie S. Thorndyke, age 88, of Lumberton, NC died on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. She was born in Richmond County, NC on August 17, 1923 to the late Frank Sutton and the late Bertha Norris Sutton. She previously worked in textiles as a spinner.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Mable Walters.

Mrs. Thorndyke is survived by her husband of seventy years, J.F. Thorndyke of the home; three sons, James Thorndyke and special friend Anne Hughes of Little River, SC, Sammy Thorndyke and wife Laura of Orrum and Donald Thorndyke and wife Frances of Lumberton; a daughter, Kathy Collins and husband Lenwood of Orrum; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Dale Thorndyke.

A service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 6:30 PM at Floyd Memorial Chapel. Burial will be on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.

Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2012 after the service at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. 5th Street in Lumberton and at other times at 925 Long Branch Drive in Lumberton.
