Obituary

Faye Dean Blackmon was born September 14. 1934 to Walter S and Mae Pate Blackmon.  She has one brother, John Walter (J.W.) Blackmon; niece, Barbara Jean Blackmon Jackson; one great niece, Erica Jackson, and a great nephew, Phillip Jackson.

Mrs. Livie Lee Pate, aunt of Faye Dean, was a great influence on her young life.  Faye Dean grew up in East Lumberton and attended the East Lumberton Methodist Church in the early fifties.  She graduated from Allenton School in 1953 and became a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in 1998.

Faye Dean has been very active in politics in the East Lumberton Community.  She was one of the original members of the former East Lumberton Recreation Commission which was very instrumental in helping to get the City of Lumberton to purchase the first piece of property for the Carolina Avenue Park.

Faye Dean has never asked to be recognized for the things she does for the church and has always asked that she be anonymous.  She has been very active in the United Methodist Women, worked in the Vacation Bible School as well as selling tickets and getting things donated to the plate sales at Asbury Church.  She always asks what can she do to help the church.

The graveside service will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at New Hollywood Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Rev. LeRoy Burke and Rev. Michael Bowen officiating.  A time for visitation will follow the service at the graveside.
