Evelyn Byrd West of 5602 Azalea Drive died on June 29, 2010 at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. She was born in Fairmont, daughter of the late Frank K. and Nioma Bass Byrd.

She was a member of East Lumberton Baptist Church. She was the part owner and operator of West??s Carpet Sales & Service, Inc. for 45 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and by husband, E. Paul West.

Surviving are a son, Edward Frank ??Eddie? West and wife Brenda of Lumberton; one grandson, Edward F. ??Ed? West, Jr. and wife Deddi of Lumberton; two granddaughters, Marsha West Rouse and husband Brian of Wilmington and Lora Ann West Steiner and husband Bryan of Annapolis, MD; two step-granddaughters, Carol Brooks and husband Richie of Lumberton and Sherie Brooks and husband John of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Agnes Stanton of Lumberton and Cleo Bass of Wilmington; one brother, Willie P. Byrd of Fairmont; a special niece, Jennifer Devlin of Charlotte; a special nephew, Jimmy West of Charlotte and ten great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 2, 2010 at East Lumberton Baptist Church with the Rev. LeRoy Burke officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton and other times at the home.
